Huangshan

3.9
Mountains · Historic Sites · Wildlife Areas
Named after the "Yellow Mountains" with which the region has long been associated, Huangshan offers access to UNESCO-listed sites both natural and man-made. The granite peaks and pine-covered slopes of the mountains have long brought painters and writers to the area, with the city--previously known as Tunxi--being renamed to reference its most revered natural attractions. Historic Huizhou water villages can also be explored during holidays in Huangshan, with the opportunity to learn more about their impressive and artistic urban design at onsite museums. Known for its production of Keemun tea, the city's traditional tea houses offer welcome refreshment after trips out to see the mountains and villages.
