Admire a distinctive pink sandstone facade and ornate architecture at Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind, the city's most recognizable landmark. Rising five stories above the street below, the 18th-century palace features an array of cupolas, verandas, and balconies attached to the royal residence. As you wander the hallways and rooms within, you'll be treated to the same view enjoyed for centuries by the women of the royal family. Forbidden from being seen in public, the women peaked at the outside world from behind the palace walls. Bring your camera to snap images of the royal grounds and the nearby market. Put Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Jaipur trip itinerary app.

The entrance is in a really nice courtyard where people take time to sit and chat. It’s a bewitching place as you move from one level to another up gentle inclines there is always something to see (and photograph!), from coloured glass to tiny windows which give you a view of the Main Street to very neat angles of the walls and ‘turrets’. You are rewarded at the top with a stunning view over the city and hills. Nearly all Indian tourists and all the better for that. If you can find it off the Main Street there is an entrance to the Palace temple. Very modest but nice wall paintings and so quiet and peaceful!

Situated in a very busy market, it's easy to reach. Definitely should be visited while in Jaipur. Ticket lines weren't too long. If you plan to stay in Jaipur for 2 days, buy the combination ticket for all the monuments available at the Hawa Mahal. The Mahal is very pretty and has a lot of corners to be checked out. Beautifully lit from the outside during evening time.
