Piazzale Michelangelo is decorated with bronze replicas of some of Michelangelo's best-known sculptures. This famous square offers panoramic city views. Designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi and built in 1869, this plaza stands on a hill just south of the historic town center. Poggi designed this public space as a terraced observation deck, which today houses a popular restaurant. The view encompasses the heart of Florence, numerous bridges crossing the river Arno, and the hills beyond the city's skyline. • Yes, the view is beautiful but this is basically just a parking lot. Keep walking up to the must see San Miniato al Monte, with better views, a stunning church, fabulous gelato, and no crowds!  more »
  • I liked this visit, a lot of charm and very nice people, it was friends who recommended this beautiful visit.  more »

  • Must see, if you are in Florence! By night and day!!!
  • You get a great view over the city from this place. A must visit for photographers. It's easy to reach by car. By foot it is a bit more difficult to reach. I took some great pictures from up there.
