Patuxai, Vientiane

3.8
Observation Deck · Monument
Dedicated to men and women killed during Laos' fight for independence, Patuxai represents a war monument decorated with various mythological creatures, gods, and animals. The structure's interior was constructed in a typical Laotian style, although the entire edifice resembles that of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. As you approach the monument, notice the ornate towers, which represent five principles of coexistence. Inside, you can explore seven floors housing administrative offices, a museum, a gift shop, and exhibits of pictures and statues of fallen heroes. For a small fee, take the elevator or stairs to the top-floor viewing area. Plan to visit Patuxai during your Vientiane vacation using our convenient Vientiane tour website.

  • nice to get up and to see the city from high angel, and also it has a market inside. the only thing that I don't like is it closes early at 5 PM.. so I can't enjoy watching the view from the highest point their at night. but I liked it and also I liked the paintings inside it.
  • Walked around the fountains and sculptures in the plaza then climbed several sets of stairs to panoramic views of the city. There are souvenir shops on the upper levels. An interesting spot to take in the sights, and watch people and traffic below.
