Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Yangon (Rangoon)

#6 of 39 in Historic Sites in Yangon (Rangoon)
Church · Hidden Gem · Historic Site
A towering red brick facade composed of two elegant spires and a central bell tower Immaculate Conception Cathedral stands out as one of the largest cathedrals in Myanmar. Constructed over a 15-year period from 1895 to its consecration in 1910, the Catholic cathedral was designed by Dutch architect Joseph Cuypers. Enter past delicately painted statues to the ornately tiled interior of arches and stained glass, with the exterior surrounded by well-kept lawns dotted with leafy palms. Daily mass is conducted in English, as is the Sunday morning service.
