Must see · Monument · Religious Site
Journey to Shwedagon Pagoda along with faithful Buddhist practitioners, who visit to honor the relics of previous Buddhas. This golden stupa, or pagoda, ranks among the holiest religious sites in Myanmar. Tradition dictates that it has stood for over 2,600 years, although historians approximate that the Mon people constructed it between the 6th and 10th centuries. In its current state, after countless renovations and reconstructions, diamonds and other precious stones encrust its steeple; see if you can spot the legendary 76-carat diamond at the tip from the ground below. • Most stunning Pagoda in Myanmar! This Pagoda is absolutely stunning. Visit during sun down to see them light the candles underneath the Pagoda. Make sure you wear temple clothes and enter through the correct side of the Pagoda. (Tourists can only enter through a certain gate, make sure you tell your taxi driver this). You can pay your respects to the culture by pouring water over your day of the week God.
  • One of the amazing places to visit in Yangon the capital of Myanmar, which speaks about the culture, tradition, belief and richness of the country. One of the oldest stupa in the world dating back to 2600 years. Visitors can enter from any of the four entrances, but the main entrance has lifts which takes you to the level from which you could walk to the same level as the main courtyard. The beautiful Pagoda is 99m tall and covered with gold all over, with precious stones hanging on the top. Gautama Buddha's strands of hair is one of precious relics kept here. To truly enjoy the place and understand the various stories behind the things there, it's better to hire a guide who could walk you around.
