Fukuoka

Fukuoka
The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sat): browse the different shops at AMU PLAZA HAKATA, then browse the range of quality goods at Hakata Hankyu, then enjoy breathtaking views from Observation Deck, Fukuoka Airport International Terminal, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gū. On the 10th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, then look for all kinds of wild species at Nokonoshima Island, then let little ones run wild at Ohori Park, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Gokoku Shrine.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. Traveling from Singapore to Fukuoka, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Singapore in December: high temperatures in Fukuoka hover around 13°C and lows are around 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) so you can drive to Nagasaki.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Mon): take an in-depth tour of Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, then stroll through Nagasaki Peace Park, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Inasa, and finally stroll through Glover Garden.

You can drive from Fukuoka to Nagasaki in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) early enough to travel to Naha.

Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): shop like a local with Makishi Public Market, then don't miss a visit to Kokusaidori, and then step into the grandiose world of Shurijo Castle. Here are some ideas for day two: kick back and relax at Nirai Beach, look for gifts at Yachimun no Sato, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Cape Manzamo.

Traveling by combination of train, taxi, and flight from Nagasaki to Naha takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Nagasaki in December, things will get a bit warmer in Naha: highs are around 24°C and lows about 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Thu) so you can travel to Miyakojima.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
On the 14th (Thu), kick back and relax at Painagama Beach and then enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Toguchi no Hama, take in the views from Irabu Bridge, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Yonaha Maehama Beach.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Naha to Miyakojima in an hour. In December, daily temperatures in Miyakojima can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Sat) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.
