Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Appreciate the collections at Vatican Museums and Centrale Montemartini. Step out of Rome with an excursion to Moai Beach in Passo Oscuro--about 46 minutes away. There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Pantheon, steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola, and explore the world behind art at Galleria Borghese.
