Founded when gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, Johannesburg quickly grew into a bustling metropolis, South Africa's largest city and the region's economic hub.
Get some cultural insight at Apartheid Museum and South African National Museum of Military History. Get some historical perspective at Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct and Union Buildings. When in Johannesburg, make a side trip to see Wild Cave Adventures in Krugersdorp, approximately Krugersdorp away.
