Sweeping beaches, towering hilltops, and picturesque vineyards adorn the landscape of Cape Town, dominated by the imposing Table Mountain.
You'll get in some beach time at Boulders Beach and Clifton Beaches. Visiting Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope will get you outdoors. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Cape Town: Cape Point (in Simon's Town), The Franschhoek Motor Museum (in Franschhoek) and Fairview Wine and Cheese (in Suider Paarl). There's lots more to do: step off the mainland to explore Robben Island, explore the striking landscape at Twelve Apostles, do a tasting at Groot Constantia, and see the interesting displays at District Six Museum.

For photos, where to stay, more things to do, and more tourist information, refer to the Cape Town trip itinerary builder.

As one of South Africa's most popular beach destinations, the resort town of Plettenberg Bay comes to life in December and January, when the holiday homes fill up with domestic tourists and foreigner visitors.
Take a break from the city and head to Garden Route (Tsitsikamma, Knysna, Wilderness) National Park and Brenton on Sea. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary and Jandreart Studio. Venture out of the city with trips to Knysna (Featherbed Nature Reserve & Buffalo Bay). Next up on the itinerary: identify plant and animal life at Elephant Sanctuary.

To see more things to do, maps, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Plettenberg Bay trip itinerary builder.

Do a combination of taxi and flight from Hermanus to Plettenberg Bay in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of taxi and bus. In November, daytime highs in Plettenberg Bay are 24°C, while nighttime lows are 16°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Oudtshoorn.
