Regarded as the fourth-oldest town in South Africa, Graaff-Reinet represents a well-preserved historic Dutch colonial settlement, set 750 (2,460 ft) above sea level on the banks of the Sundays River.
Get a sense of the local culture at First People Centre at The Bethesda Art Centre and Walter Battiss Art Museum. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Valley of Desolation and Walking tours. Take a break from Graaff-Reinet with a short trip to The Owl House in Nieu-Bethesda, about 44 minutes away. Spend the 28th (Tue) exploring nature at Camdeboo National Park.
