Create an itinerary including Juyong Pass of Great Wall
Part of the strategic Great Wall of China, Juyong Pass of Great Wall remains a rare, well-preserved example of the impregnable solid barrier that once protected the capital's Old City. Serving as a military stronghold throughout history, the 4.142-meter (13,589 ft) circular pass rests in the 18 km (11 mi) long Guangou Valley surrounded by mountains on two sides. In the middle of the pass, examine the Cloud Platform, a white marble structure with reliefs of four heavenly gods and sutra scriptures carved in its walls. Stairs can get very slippery during rain, so check the weather forecast to avoid the bad conditions, and always carry snacks and extra water during your exploration. • Easy access to the Great Wall and great to be able to experience. Travelled pre Covid in April 2020.

  • Chairman Mao once said: “He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man”. Getting to that red watch tower hopefully made the Chairman proud on this day. Great view from the top too.

  • I loved climbing on the Great Wall. There were a lot of people there that day. School children and tourists trying to make sense of the world. The girl that sat thinking on the steps of the great wall probably had the greatest enlightenment. The main thing I thought about as I climbed higher and higher along the wall was: how many people died building this wall? And how long did the wall protect the people that ordered it being built? Such a great sacrifice by so many. For what? I hope the workers found purpose in their lives. I am still thinking about these things. Cold and windy day Hiking along the Great Wall Warmed my heart and soul
