Exceptionally well preserved and rich in detail, Mutianyu Great Wall offers visitors an iconic view of China's symbolic World Heritage Site and one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. This segment of the wall was originally built in the 6th century CE during the Northern Qi dynasty and has remained unchanged since 1569. The section boasts many watchtowers and is surrounded by a dense forest, which makes for sweeping scenery. Access the wall by climbing the approximately 4,000 steps, riding the chairlift, or taking the gondola lift. • The Great Wall of China is located north of Beijing. Some parts of it have been preserved and reconstructed for tourists, but most of it has been lost to time. However, millions of tourists from different parts of the world flock to the northern part of Tin every day to enjoy the beauty of this amazing Great Wall of China. Small children also come holding the hands of their parents. Every morning the competition for visitors to climb to the top of the hill starts. This competition to climb the mountain goes on until sunset. The most crowded part is the Marteling. In 2001, about 6 crore people came to visit this part. During the season of visiting this wall, the number of tourists exceeds 70,000 a day!
  • One of the quieter tourist centres to see the Great Wall of China. Other areas are busier. This one has an option to hike up and take the rope way down. Be prepared for elevation. Bring lots of water and prepare for extremely hot sun!! Also better to hire a day cab for the whole day as it is hard to find cabs to go there, they charge double as they can’t find passengers to return.
