Create an itinerary including Mehrangarh Fort
Perched atop a rocky promontory and overlooking the surrounding plains, Mehrangarh Fort and its towering walls rank among the most iconic landmarks in the country. Built in the 1450s by the rulers of the Marwar Kingdom, the fortress bears cannonball scars from the battles it saw in the following centuries. On your way up to the castle, you can marvel at the fortifications that rise 125 m (410 ft) above the city, sticking straight up from the hill's rock face. Explore the museum within to learn more about the fort's history and see an extensive collection of rare arms, armor, artwork, and other artifacts from the region. From the top of the battlements, lined with antique cannons, you'll get a sweeping view over the city and the landscape below. • One of the most well maintained and lively fort and museum. Tour guide, facilities, cleanliness, all at its best. Fort is huge and require stamina to walk through the whole premise. There is elevator too available. Souvenir shop is really amazing, you would fall in love with jewels and show pieces. Refreshments available too in a small but classy setting. Tour guide is required if you want to understand the historic importance.
  • One of the best historical place I have visited.... The most magnificent part is they have lift facility available for all those who don't want to or aren't able to walk to the topmost. Take the lift to save your time and walk downward enjoying the different views of the old city while taking a glance at the royal attributes. The traditional market within the fort is a super attraction. Believe me they have an economical range and the prices are same that you would get in the local market. So, don't wait to grab your favourite piece. They have good cafes too that serve decent food.
