Smile along with Buddha at Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia. The spacious structure is dedicated to Maitreya, the laughing Buddha. Admire the many statues inside, showing the charming Buddha smiling, having tea, and communicating with various animals. Twelve statues outside represent the animals of the Chinese zodiac, which is based on year--you can find your zodiac animal and compare characteristics. Enjoy the scenic view from the balcony, or take some memorable photos at this tranquil place. Try the diverse and delicious meals in the temple's vegetarian restaurant. • For me, there was the biggest temple I met. Upper balcony had a great view to city and the cafe is recommended for its delicious local drinks with acceptable prices.

  • At the past about 2-3 years before pandemic corona. Tourist from several country will visit this temple every sunday (Japanese, American, Korean, and many more countries). I still remember the sight of it, and i do really miss that times. But the last time i visit which is 1 weeks before i upload this experience, i do find some tourist from Indian and America. I hope all place will be recover like the old times.
  • This is one of Batam main Chinese/Buddhist Temple. This is a very peaceful place. There is a huge complex with three main halls for Buddha, Guang Kong and Guan Yin. There is a vegetarian restaurant as well too. Nice place for a break and a taste for vegan food. And a shop that sells all the Buddha items, including beautiful clocks and souvenirs to buy and take home. Almost all tour agents include this in their programmed.
