Glover Garden shows off an array of Western-style homes that once belonged to the area's foreign residents. The latter half of the 19th century saw the country's age of isolation ended, as trade reopened with Europe and North America. Explore the open-air museum and you'll see the luxurious mansions and residences of railroad tycoons, merchants, and other foreigners who once lived here. Don't miss the home of industrialist Andrew Glover--the building blends Japanese and Western architecture and offers a sweeping view of the city harbor. • I've visited this area many times and never get tired of the history and beauty. My friend Chad Dupont who lives and works in Omura has had a weekly YouTube VLOG, Discovering Nagasaki from a Local...

  • This was by far my favorite place at my trip to Nagasaki. The garden and everything inside it had a charm. You will feel a little of nostalgia within the place, the ladies dressing Victorian-ish...

  • You forget you're in Japan when visiting this restored former Dutch village. The views of the city are incredible, the history is so interesting, and there's something new around every corner. It's a hike up a hill to get there, but so worth it!
  • Very enjoyable attraction to visit. The garden and houses are well maintained and cared for. The staff are excellent. I dropped my reading glasses and was unable to find them. I returned a couple of days later and with the help of google translate was reunited with them. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
