Pakse
Gateway to Southern Laos
Resting at the meeting point of the Se Don and Mekong rivers, Pakse provides the ideal starting point from which to begin your discovery of southern Laos. Despite its prominent standing as capital of Champasak province and title of the second most-populated city in the country, Pakse maintains a relaxed atmosphere, with bars and restaurants spreading their way along the humid riverside. Dotted with temples and French colonial era buildings, explore the center of the city by foot--many visitors spend sunny afternoons admiring the view of the converging rivers' edge with a beer in hand. Tuk tuk rides and motorcycles will take you further out to the suburbs. However, most visitors tend to stay near the river and its nearby attractions during their Pakse vacation. Our Laos trip website allows you to plan your trip to Pakse and a wealth of other destinations big and small.
