Observe more than 200 sacred statues and a giant 40 meter (131 ft) high image of the reclining Buddha at Buddha Park. Built in 1958 by a monk who studied both Hinduism and Buddhism, the park represents a blend of two religions and all their artistic embodiments of deities, demons, and animals. As you stroll across the exotic compound, observe statues of a Hindu god-king riding a three-headed elephant, a deity with twelve faces and six hands, and a four-armed divine being riding a horse. With our international travel planner, Vientiane attractions like Buddha Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The trip was an amazing experience … the park is located 25 km away from the capital Vientiane, you can take the bus n°14 at the Central Bus Station of Vientiane. This park contains over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues. The average time Buddha Park is an entertaining couple of hours. There is also a restaurant by the river to recover from the heat after walking in the park. The entrance fee to the park is 15 000 Kip per person. I highly recommend this place!
  • There isn't all that much going on in Vientiane during the day (at least not at the moment), so I decided to take the local bus (12.000 one way) to Buddha Park. Unfortunately I found it very underwhelming.. The park is really rather small and the statues are interesting, but if you know that they aren't old/authentic, it just isn't that amazing.. I also climbed on top of the pumpkin statue (you enter through its mouth) to have an overview of the park, and even the view was pretty average. On the plus side, the park is well maintained and entrance is cheap (15000). You can follow my travels @revelintravel
