Thanks to its sturdy Siamese style architecture, Wat Si Saket stands intact and represents one of the oldest temples in the capitol. The Buddhist compound served as headquarters to the armies of Siam during king Anouvong's rebellion in 1827--which resulted in the city's total destruction and the relocation of its denizens. As you explore the temple halls and courtyard, examine the cloister walls both inside and out, which feature over more than 2,000 images of Buddha made of ceramic and silver. Beautiful temple, especially the arts and the small details of artist pieces and hundreds of small Buddha images. Wat Sisaket Temple is the only place that wasn't burnt up by Siam armies (Thailand currently) when they invaded laos in about 18th century.
