Visit Klein Constantia, a vineyard and winery with an enviable location and interesting history. First established here in 1685 because of the quality of the soil and the cool ocean breezes, the winery produced a naturally sweet Vin de Constance, which became popular with writers, rulers, and the aristocracy during the 18th and 19th centuries--until a wine blight devastated the vineyards. Reopened in 1986, the facility offers tours of the facilities, tastings and pairing sessions, and an onsite store where you can pick up a bottle or two to take home with you. Klein means small in Afrikaans and it is small but definitely won't leave you small on expectations when you arrive. I love coming here. The drive in is breathtaking through the wine yards and you get a gorgeous view of the mountain before you enter the estate. Staff is professional and friendly when greeting you at the entrance. Whether you are doing the wine tasting or eating at the restaurant the staff are happy to help and seat you. While doing a wine tasting you have a choice to have a cheese platter for 2 people. Sit down, enjoy some wine and enjoy the view, you will see the barrels and factory where the wine is made. Go past and enjoy the history on the walls at this scenic spot. Favorite local spot.

We visited Klein Constantia Estate last fall. During our visit we did wine tasting and visited the cut gift shop. The staff was friendly and we really enjoyed the wine. What is disappointing is our order for our wine. During our visit we fell in love with the Vin De Constance wine. We was going to bring home 4 bottles of it in our luggage but the staff at the winery convinced us to order the wine and have it delivered to our home. They told us it would take 2-3 weeks to get delivered. So we placed an order. It has been over 4 months now and we still don't have our wine. Every month we get a notification that the shipment has been delayed. I just received another notification that it is delayed another month. I feel at this point I am out $400 and I will never receive my wine. I understand shipping delays but 5 1/2 months to get an order is excessive.
