Fukuoka — 3 nights

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
On the 9th (Sat), browse the different shops at JR Hakata City Amu Plaza Hakata, enjoy breathtaking views from Observation Deck, Fukuoka Airport International Terminal, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gu. On your second day here, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, head off the coast to Nokonoshima Island, then go for a walk through Ohori Park, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fukuokaken Gokoku Shrine.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Singapore Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is 1 hour. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Singapore in December; daily highs in Fukuoka reach 13°C and lows reach 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Mon) early enough to drive to Nagasaki.

Nagasaki — 1 night

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II. This history, of course, remains important to the city, its inhabitants, and to the wider world, and should not be forgotten.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Mon): get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, then stroll around Nagasaki Peace Park, then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Inasa, and finally don't miss a visit to Glover Garden.

Traveling by car from Fukuoka to Nagasaki takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In December, daytime highs in Nagasaki are 13°C, while nighttime lows are 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) to allow enough time to fly to Naha.

Naha — 2 nights

Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): don't miss a visit to Makishi Public Market, make a trip to Kokusaidori, and then explore the historical opulence of Shurijo Castle. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 13th (Wed): enjoy the sand and surf at Nirai Beach, then look for gifts at Yachimun no Sato, and then explore the striking landscape at Cape Manzamo.

Getting from Nagasaki to Naha by flight takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and ferry; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Traveling from Nagasaki in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Naha: highs are around 24°C and lows about 19°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) early enough to fly to Miyakojima.

Miyakojima — 2 nights

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
On the 14th (Thu), tour the pleasant surroundings at Sunayama Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stroll through Toguchi no Hama, snap pictures at Irabu Ohashi, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Yonaha Maehama Beach.

You can fly from Naha to Miyakojima in 2.5 hours. December in Miyakojima sees daily highs of 25°C and lows of 20°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sat) early enough to catch the flight to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki — 1 night

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, explore the activities along Kabira Bay, and then look and learn at Ishigakijima Observatory.
