Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo) was established by the British as a military outpost, but soon became the summer capital of British Burma, and a popular retreat for the colonial administration on account of its relatively cool and refreshing climate.

Explore Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo)'s surroundings by going to Naga Yon Hpaya (in Bagan), National Landmark Garden (in Naypyidaw) and Goke Hteik Viaduct (in Nawnghkio).
