Getting from Shanghai to Kyoto by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and taxi; or do a combination of ferry and train. The time zone changes from China Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Shanghai in April, Kyoto is little chillier at night with lows of 11°C.
