The riverside capital of Laos, Vientiane still has a relatively small urban area and a laid-back, relaxed feel to it.
On the 2nd (Thu), steep yourself in history at Great Sacred Stupa (Pha That Luang), appreciate the history behind Wat That Luang Neua, walk around Buddha Park, then appreciate the history behind Black Stupa (That Dam), then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Wat Si Saket, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Wat Ho Phra Keo.

If you are flying in from Laos, the closest major aiport is Wattay International Airport. In March in Vientiane, expect temperatures between 40°C during the day and 26°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) to allow time to drive to Udon Thani.
