Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Get out of town with these interesting Reykjavik side-trips: Blue Lagoon (in Grindavik) and Thingvellir (Galgaklettur & Thingvellir National Park). Spend the 5th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Fri): kick back and relax at Reynisfjara Beach, admire the sheer force of Skogafoss, then explore the striking landscape at Sólheimajökulll, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Reyniskirkja Church.
